Aveiro and Costa Nova, with a Certified Guide
Known as the “Portuguese Venice”, Aveiro is quietly dominated by its water canals, the famous colored boats known as “moliceiros” and the Art Nouveau houses, all making up the city’s charm, allure and uniqueness.
Upon arrival, after a mere 45-minute drive from Porto, a panoramic tour will show you, among other things, one the of the most picturesque train stations in the country, fully decorated with Portuguese Azulejos – blue and white tiles.
Then, we proceed to explore the city’s historical area, where you can experience the atmosphere of the traditional fisherman’s market and admire the stunning façades of the Art Nouveau buildings while walking alongside the water canals.
Recover energies with the regional delicacies called “Ovos Moles” and indulge in the variety of other gold-colored sweets, where eggs and sugar do magic!
You may wish to embark on a traditional boat ride along the canals of the lagoon, true roads of silver water leading us through the city.
Later, discover nearby Costa Nova where you’ll be strongly attracted by this colorful piece of the Portuguese coast and where you may also wish to enjoy lunch, tasting the fresh fish from the Atlantic. Costa Nova beach is also very characteristic due to the wooden houses streaked with white and bright colors, descending from the old haystacks that served as warehouses and shelters for the local seafarers. And close-by, on Barra beach, admire the highest lighthouse in Portugal before returning to Porto.
